Sources and review
How we make our guides.
26 destinations and 596 cities, free. This is where each piece of data comes from and how we keep it up to date.
Where each piece of data comes from
- Safety. We follow official travel advice: if it warns against travelling to a country or a region, we don’t publish it or we take it down. We review it every month.
- Places, areas and seasons. The same data the Bagintravel app uses to plan trips: the highlights of each city, areas to stay and weather and seasonal warnings month by month.
- What people search for. What people search for and what they searched for in those same weeks in previous years: that’s how we decide which guides to update and which questions to answer.
- Typical food and recipes. Recipes written by us to make at home, with an alternative when an ingredient is hard to find.
- Photos. From Wikimedia Commons, checked one by one, with the author and licence of each photo. If there’s no good one of the place or the dish, we don’t use any.
- Day trips. We link to the best-rated activity near each place on GetYourGuide. They are affiliate links: if you book, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Our guides are written in Spanish and translated by our team, adapting what only makes sense when travelling from Spain.
What we don’t do
- No day-by-day itineraries: splitting places into days to fit your dates is what the app does.
- No prices or opening hours that change: we send you to the official source or the booking page.
- Only stable, verifiable facts; if we’re not sure about something, we leave it out.
- Each guide shows the date of its last review, at the top and at the bottom of the page.
