Bariloche hot chocolate

Bariloche is Argentina’s chocolate capital, thanks to Swiss and Italian immigrants. After a day in the snow, people drink a thick hot chocolate with a hint of cinnamon.

  • Serves 4
  • 15 min

Ingredients

  • 200 g dark chocolate (60–70%)
  • 750 ml whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon of cornflour
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Whipped cream (optional)

How to make it at home

  1. Heat the milk with the cinnamon and sugar.
  2. Dissolve the cornflour in a little cold milk.
  3. Add the chopped chocolate to the hot milk and stir until it melts.
  4. Stir in the cornflour and cook over a low heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
  5. Serve hot, with whipped cream if you like.

The trick: With good-quality chocolate you hardly need any sugar.
