Minchi

The dish of Macanese families: minced meat stir-fried with diced potato, onion and soy sauce, topped with a fried egg. Portugal and China in one frying pan.

  • Serves 4
  • 35 min

Ingredients

  • 500 g minced pork and beef
  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce (light and dark)
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • Oil
  • White rice

How to make it at home

  1. Cut the potatoes into small dice and fry until crisp. Set aside.
  2. Fry the chopped onion and garlic, add the meat and stir-fry over a high heat until browned.
  3. Add the sauces and sugar and mix.
  4. Add the potatoes just before serving so they don’t go soft.
  5. Serve with rice and a fried egg on top.

The trick: The potatoes go in last: they need to stay crisp.
